What’s Most Important When It Comes to Your Money?
Will Simpson and Greg Wise

What’s the one thing that matters most?
In the markets this week, U.S. equities led the way out of an up-and-down April, marking today as the ninth positive day in a row. Russell 2000 gained close to 3% this week as well, helped along by a cooler tone around tariffs and a jobs report that was strong enough to reassure. Yields stayed mostly range-bound despite the headlines, and the VIX has quietly drifted back to calmer levels. Is all the concern over within weeks?
In Canada, the story was a bit more mixed. The TSX still posted a gain, but materials dragged the index down as gold and metals pulled back. Energy was also weak, continuing a month-long slide for WTI to below US$60/bbl. That said, sectors like real estate, industrials, and financials held up well, suggesting more balance under the surface. Political uncertainty faded too, with the federal election now behind us and a minority government in place.
