Roman Cannell

“I am going to move to Toronto and make a name for myself.”

Roman’s words, spoken in his hometown of Ottawa as he graduated from university, were those of a son sitting in admiration of his high-achieving father, a man himself inspired by the hard work of his dad, an immigrant from Britain.

So it is easy to see why Roman relates so strongly to this element of the Aretec Wealth brand foundation: We don’t believe in a “good enough” mentality. Is that how you want to live your life? Good enough, or the best it can be?

“I am living that philosophy right now in moving to Aretec,” says Roman. I was comfortable at the bank. But I made the biggest decision of my life – in order to go from good to great.”

Roman’s journey started very humbly. One summer, he cold-called potential clients for his father. It was a window to the two-and-a-half years he would later spend as a member of Will and Greg’s team at one of the Big Banks. As Roman relates: “I put my head down, made 150 calls a day, and it worked.”

A 2021 graduate of Queen’s, Roman began work with Will and Greg just a week after convocation. He had earned a degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences enroute to a career in medicine, but had already decided to embrace his love of connecting with people and helping them realize their wealth in every sense.

His specific responsibilities at Aretec include explaining new ideas and strategies to clients, thinking deeply and outside the box to help them achieve outcomes they otherwise would not have.

To ever-expand his knowledge, Roman loves reading every night. A lifelong athlete, he enjoys playing hockey every week and watching football every Sunday.

And practicing gratitude. “I am thankful for all the lessons my parents have taught me, that shaped me into person I am today. They have shown me that when you strive to be the best you can possibly be, you can be a light for others to follow.”
